The Lilacs are a group of shrubs, of the genus Syringa, in the family Oleaceae. They range in size from small shrubs to small trees. They are often grown for the panicles of white, pale pink or more generally purple flowers. The flowers grow in large clusters, and have a strong and fragrant scent.
A pale purple colour is generally known as 'lilac' after the flower.
