His festival (along with Faunus), celebrated on the anniversary of the founding of his temple, February 15, was called the Lupercalia. His priests (Luperci) wore goat-skins and hit onlookers with goat-skin belts. Lupercus was associated with the cave where Romulus and Remus were suckled by a she-wolf.
