The racial makeup of the county is 97.86% White, 0.22% Black or African American, 0.42% Native American, 0.24% Asian, 0.07% Pacific Islander, 0.77% from other races, and 0.44% from two or more races. 1.71% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 7,916 households out of which 35.00% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.70% are married couples living together, 8.80% have a female householder with no husband present, and 26.70% are non-families. 23.80% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.70% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
