Meridian is a city located in Bosque County, Texas. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 1,491. It is the county seat of Bosque County6.

census of 2000, there are 1,491 people, 515 households, and 358 families residing in the city. The population density is 266.5/km² (689.3/mi²). There are 600 housing units at an average density of 107.3/km² (277.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 83.43% White, 5.37% African American, 0.27% Native American, 0.07% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 8.18% from other races, and 2.68% from two or more races. 23.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 515 households out of which 36.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.0% are married couples living together, 13.2% have a female householder with no husband present, and 30.3% are non-families. 28.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 16.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.66 and the average family size is 3.27. In the city the population is spread out with 28.7% under the age of 18, 7.7% from 18 to 24, 26.3% from 25 to 44, 17.4% from 45 to 64, and 19.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 36 years. For every 100 females there are 87.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 83.9 males. The median income for a household in the city is $32,750, and the median income for a family is $40,625. Males have a median income of $30,179 versus $20,227 for females.
