Mexico is a town located in Oxford County, Maine. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 2,959.

United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 61.3 km² (23.6 mi²). 60.7 km² (23.4 mi²) of it is land and 0.6 km² (0.2 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.93% water.

census of 2000, there are 2,959 people, 1,298 households, and 820 families residing in the town. The population density is 48.8/km² (126.3/mi²). There are 1,448 housing units at an average density of 23.9 persons/km² (61.8 persons/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 97.84% White, 0.24% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.88% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 1.05% from two or more races. 0.27% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 1,298 households out of which 28.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 44.5% are married couples living together, 13.0% have a woman whose husband does not live with her, and 36.8% are non-families. 31.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 15.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.27 and the average family size is 2.80. In the town the population is spread out with 24.0% under the age of 18, 6.7% from 18 to 24, 27.9% from 25 to 44, 21.8% from 45 to 64, and 19.6% who are 65 years of age or older.
