Mount Apo is the highest mountain in the Philippines. It rises 2,954 meters high and overlooks Davao City, a few kilometers to the northeast.

Mount Apo is one of the most popular climbing destinations in the country. The summit is very easy to reach, unlike other mountains such as Mt. Halcon and Mt. Banahaw. On May 9, 1936, Mount Apo was declared a national park by Pres. Manuel L. Quezon. The mountain is home to over 270 bird species, with more than a hundred that are endemic.
