Mughal-e-azam is a Hindi movie of 1960s produced and directed by Asif K. It is loosely based on the story of the Mughal prince Jehangir's juvenile love story. Emperor Akbar (played by Prithvi Raj Kapoor) rejects his love initially, but finally gives up his denial.

The movie was great hit of 1960s. It featured the all-time hit song -- Pyar kiya tho darna kya. This song alone was shot on Eastman Kodak, while the rest of the movie was in Black and White.

The music was by Naushad and lyrics by Shakeel Badayuni.
