The racial makeup of the town is 91.86% White, 1.56% African American, 0.64% Native American, 1.93% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 1.70% from other races, and 2.27% from two or more races. 8.11% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 1,340 households out of which 8.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.8% are married couples living together, 6.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 42.6% are non-families. 38.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 28.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 1.85 and the average family size is 2.37.
