An advanced bloodline in the Naruto TV series is any sort of property passed down the generations of a specific clan genetically that can not be imitated or duplicated by any other method. They are often beneficial and are employed commonly by Shinobis to improve their chance in battle or other challenging situations.
The eagerness with which country rulers have been taking advantage of shinobis who have advanced bloodlines for the purposes of furthering war efforts took its toll on their reputation, to such a degree that people started innately associating advanced bloodlines with war and pain. It eventually reached the point of outright fear and hatred, resulting in witch hunts and systematic murders of families and individuals with advanced bloodlines- to the possible point of obsession (As was the case with Haku's tragedy).
Advanced bloodlines to have appeared in the Anime thus far:
Characters who possess the Byakuugan are all Hyuuga house members (Hinata, Neji, Hiashi and Hizashi).
The only character seen in the anime so far who possesses this advanced bloodline is Akado Yoroi.
The worst possible match-up for the Sharingan user is the Taijutsu specialist. While still being able to read, copy and react to high-level Taijutsu, Sharingan users typically lack the strength, agility and stamina to keep up with it. Also, the lack of chakra focusing or hand seals required for Taijutsu gives the Sharingan user much less time to react to their opponent's movements.
Characters who possess the Sharingan include Uchiha Sasuke, Uchiha Itachi and Hatake Kakashi (only in one eye, atypically for Sharingan).
The only characters seen so far in the anime who possess it are Haku and his nameless mother.Advanced Bloodlines
Byakuugan
The Byakuugan (Literally "White eye") is a special pupil condition that naturally occurs in some members of the Hyuuga clan. It is believed to be a relative of the Sharingan, but in terms of insight, surpasses it. A person with the Byakuugan always has a 360 degrees field of vision and can read the emotions of others by observing their pupil movement; when used actively through Chakra, the Byakuugan can see through most matter and perceive the Chakra inner coil system (tenkentsu), enabling usage of the Jyuuken. In very advanced cases, such as with Hyuuga Neji, the Byakuugan can see the Chakra Holes (tsubos) and enable the user to attack them, potentially shutting off the opponent's chakra flow completely.Energy Absorption
The presence of this advanced bloodline is undetectable on the person possessing it until it is activated. When it is, the palm of the person using it glows with eerie blue flame and they are able to suck the chakra out of their opponents, simultaneously weakening the opponent and strengthening themselves. While very powerful, this has the drawback of having to be in contact with the enemy for enough time so the absorption can take effect.Sharingan
The Sharingan (Literally "Copy Wheel Eye") is a special type of pupil that naturally occurs in some members of the Uchiha clan, which allegedly evolved from the Byakuugan and allows the user to do to a number of things. The Sharingan's first and most well known ability is to memorize any technique that it is a witness to - as well as register the movements of opponents. Second, it is capable of a unique brand of hypnosis that involves suggesting actions and thoughts to the opponent, which makes it seem as if the Sharingan user can see the future (which they cannot). Third, it can see through any illusionary techniques. The power of the Sharingan is judged through the amount of dots in the person's eye.Transportation by Ice
The presence of this advanced bloodline does not show itself anywhere on the person's body, but enables the user to create a special brand of ice which they can actually enter. They can freely transport themselves between any two ice blocks they reside in in extremely high speeds. Furthermore, time within the ice flows much faster than outside it, essentially letting the person within the ice see the outside world- including a potential opponent- as if they were moving in slow motion, allowing reaction at speeds that to the outside observer seem supernatural. The canonical application of this advanced bloodline is the Makyou HyouShou Hijutsu (Demonic Ice Mirrors secret technique).
