It runs along the east side of Paterson, New Jersey between United States Highway 46 and Lincoln Avenue. At one point, NJ 20, New Jersey State Highway 19, and New Jersey State Highway 120 were all supposed to be part of the same highway; the other two highways were given separate designations in 1988.
