The New Zealand Music Awards are handed out yearly to outstanding New Zealand artists. They have been awarded the past 38 years. The 2004 awards will be handed out on April 30, and are also refered to as the TUIs.

The categories for 2004 are:

  • Breakthrough artist of the year

  • Best jazz album

  • Best Mana Reo album
  • Best Mana Moari album
  • Best Pacific Island album
  • Best urban album

  • Best music video

  • Highest selling NZ album
  • Highest selling NZ single

  • Best cover design
  • Engineer of the year
  • Producer of the year
  • Best music radio programmer

The winners include Bic Runga, Dave Dobbyn, The Datsuns, The New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, Pacific Soul en Goodshirt.
