North Fair Oaks not actually a town, but is a district for the purposes of the United States census. It is located in the incorporated city of Redwood City in San Mateo county. As of the 2000 census, the area had a total population of 15,440.

Geography

North Fair Oaks is located at 37°28'31" North, 122°12'13" West (37.475170, -122.203506)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the area has a total area of 3.0 km² (1.2 mi²). 3.0 km² (1.2 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 15,440 people, 3,997 households, and 2,937 families residing in the area. The population density is 5,095.2/km² (13,221.9/mi²). There are 4,059 housing units at an average density of 1,339.5/km² (3,475.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 50.60% White, 1.92% African American, 0.84% Native American, 3.03% Asian, 1.31% Pacific Islander, 37.94% from other races, and 4.35% from two or more races. 69.57% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 3,997 households out of which 45.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.0% are married couples living together, 12.2% have a female householder with no husband present, and 26.5% are non-families. 18.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 4.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.81 and the average family size is 4.20.

In the area the population is spread out with 30.3% under the age of 18, 12.4% from 18 to 24, 35.8% from 25 to 44, 15.9% from 45 to 64, and 5.6% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 29 years. For every 100 females there are 115.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 117.9 males.
