During World War II, Operation Colossus was a British Commando raid by thirty-eight paratroopers against the railroad viaduct at Trigano (near Potenza, in southern Italy) on 10 February, 1941.

This attack ended in disaster when all of the raiders were captured after causing only slight damage to their target.
