Operation Pin is a British, North American and Australian sting operation to identify pedophiles using the internet to access child pornography. Announced in mid-December, 2003, the operation set up a number of websites ("honeypots") purporting to offer illegal images.

The police would then collect technical information identifying the computer of the person who entered the site, and inform him/her about this.

This information could then be shared around the world and used in follow-on investigations.
