Oxford is a village located in Oakland County, Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 3,540.

Geography

United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 3.7 km² (1.4 mi²). 3.2 km² (1.2 mi²) of it is land and 0.5 km² (0.2 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 13.29% water.

Demographics

census of 2000, there are 3,540 people, 1,402 households, and 918 families residing in the village. The population density is 1,111.2/km² (2,873.5/mi²). There are 1,476 housing units at an average density of 463.3/km² (1,198.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 97.23% White, 0.59% African American, 0.28% Native American, 0.54% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.31% from other races, and 1.05% from two or more races. 2.66% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 1,402 households out of which 35.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.4% are married couples living together, 9.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 34.5% are non-families. 29.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.51 and the average family size is 3.15. In the village the population is spread out with 28.2% under the age of 18, 8.1% from 18 to 24, 34.4% from 25 to 44, 21.2% from 45 to 64, and 8.2% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 34 years. For every 100 females there are 96.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 93.7 males. The median income for a household in the village is $53,885, and the median income for a family is $72,875. Males have a median income of $50,179 versus $29,938 for females.
