Paradise Township is a township located in Monroe County, Pennsylvania. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 2,671.

Geography

United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 55.8 km² (21.5 mi²). 55.5 km² (21.4 mi²) of it is land and 0.2 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.42% water.

Demographics

\nAs of the
census of 2000, there are 2,671 people, 996 households, and 724 families residing in the township. The population density is 48.1/km² (124.6/mi²). There are 1,306 housing units at an average density of 23.5/km² (60.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 92.40% White, 3.59% African American, 0.49% Native American, 1.05% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 1.05% from other races, and 1.39% from two or more races. 3.18% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 996 households out of which 30.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.9% are married couples living together, 9.2% have a female householder with no husband present, and 27.3% are non-families. 22.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 9.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.57 and the average family size is 3.00. In the township the population is spread out with 22.7% under the age of 18, 7.2% from 18 to 24, 27.3% from 25 to 44, 27.9% from 45 to 64, and 14.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 41 years. For every 100 females there are 94.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 96.7 males. The median income for a household in the township is $48,320, and the median income for a family is $57,353. Males have a median income of $35,950 versus $27,422 for females.
