The racial makeup of the borough is 78.43% White, 12.73% African American, 0.66% Native American, 2.40% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 2.73% from other races, and 3.06% from two or more races. 8.60% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 470 households out of which 35.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 44.7% are married couples living together, 15.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 32.6% are non-families. 26.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 6.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.56 and the average family size is 3.06.
