The Phasmatodea are a group of insects. The phasmids include the stick insects, the ghost insects and the leaf insects.

In old classifications they are considered a suborder of Orthoptera.

The name is derived from the Greek "phasm" meaning an apparition, a phantom, refers to the cryptic appearance and mimetic behavior of these insects.
