Pittsford is a suburb of Rochester, situated along the Erie Canal in New York.

Pittsford was established in 1827. The founders of the town are believed to have been from Pittsford, Vermont, for which they named the town.

Pittsford consists of a town center (called the Village of Pittsford) surrounded by outlying suburban residential areas.

In 2003, the Pittsford Mendon High School received a ranking of the 25th best high school in the nation. All Pittsford schools are considered very good, despite the fact that the newest school (Thornell Road Elementary) was constructed in 1972.

Sutherland, the other high school in Pittsford, is so decrepit, that it is believed that if a violent windstorm were to hit the Pittsford area, that the school might actually fall down. For the lucky Pittsford high school student, he or she might be able to switch schools from Sutherland to Mendon. But considering how many students want a transfer, the school board carefully selects only the best candidates to go to Mendon, so as not to disrupt the incredibly high social and academic standards at the better of the two schools.

The daily activities in Pittsford are somewhat limited, but two very large malls, Eastview and Henrietta, are very popular for Pittsford residents of all ages. There are also a few fine restaurants, such as The Waterhouse, located on Main Street. Pittsford is also the home of one of the largest Wegmans in the state. It seems that the Pittsford Wegmans is the major test center for the company, they use it to test out different ideas such as mini-restaurants and small pet stores attached to the main building.

Overall, Pittsford is a middle to upper class neighboorhood with fine schools and low drug usage, and would be a fine place for any high middle class couple or family to move to.
