A public service announcement or PSA is a non-commercial "advertisement" – typically on U.S or Canadian radio or television. Often, a celebrity promotes a foundation and asks for support which should be given by the listeners or viewers. Michael J. Fox, for example, made PSAs for the support of research into Parkinson's Disease, from which he suffers. Others deal with public awareness campaigns, such as stopping smoking and compulsive gambling.

The largest distributor of public service announcements in the United States is the Ad Council.
