The 12 year old Ruri was produced as part of an attempt to create a "perfect human" and is the only surviving result. Aside from her trademark "Baka Baka!" (Idiots!) remarks about the crew, she also does the pre-episode narration. In Prince of Darkness, Ruri becomes the captain of the Nadesico.
