He is a former private investigator who has been driven insane by the side-effects of treatments and paraphenalia which gave him superhuman abilities sponsored by J. Jonah Jameson. The Scorpion is one of the more dangerous Spider-Man villains and is not easily dispatched by the Wall-Crawler due to Gargan's deductive reasoning skills and manic physical onslaught.
