It stars Alan Ladd, Jean Arthur, Van Heflin, Brandon De Wilde, Jack Palance, Ben Johnson, Edgar Buchanan, Emile Meyer and Elisha Cook Jr. The movie was written by Jack Schaefer, A.B. Guthrie Jr and Jack Sher. It was directed by George Stevens. It won an Academy Award for Best Cinematography, Color. It was nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Brandon De Wilde), Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Jack Palance), Best Director, Best Picture and Best Writing, Screenplay. Shane was remade as a television series in 1966, starring David Carradine.
