Sheridan Township is a township located in Clare County, Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 1,588.

Geography

United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 94.6 km² (36.5 mi²). 94.1 km² (36.3 mi²) of it is land and 0.5 km² (0.2 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.57% water.

census of 2000, there are 1,588 people, 482 households, and 382 families residing in the township. The population density is 16.9/km² (43.7/mi²). There are 569 housing units at an average density of 6.0/km² (15.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 97.61% White, 0.57% African American, 0.76% Native American, 0.06% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.06% from other races, and 0.94% from two or more races. 0.88% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 482 households out of which 45.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 66.0% are married couples living together, 8.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 20.7% are non-families. 16.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 6.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.28 and the average family size is 3.72. In the township the population is spread out with 37.0% under the age of 18, 9.3% from 18 to 24, 28.4% from 25 to 44, 17.5% from 45 to 64, and 7.8% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 29 years. For every 100 females there are 94.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 95.3 males. The median income for a household in the township is $32,069, and the median income for a family is $34,107. Males have a median income of $28,300 versus $22,841 for females.
