Beginning in 1999, the United States Mint began the Statehood Quarter program. A program of United States Commemorative Coins.
Approximately every 10 weeks, since 1999 and until 2008, a new statehood quarter has been released by the United States Mint. Each quarter's reverse celebrates one of the 50 states with a design honoring its unique history, traditions, and symbols. The quarters are released in the same order that the states joined the union.

Note that it seems highly probable at this point that more coins will be issued for the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and some other territories. As soon as congress acts on the details, this should be updated.
