Statesboro is a city located in Bulloch County, Georgia. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 22,698. The city is the county seat of Bulloch County6.

census of 2000, there are 22,698 people, 8,560 households, and 3,304 families residing in the city. The population density is 700.0/km² (1,812.9/mi²). There are 9,235 housing units at an average density of 284.8/km² (737.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 56.21% White, 40.25% African American, 0.07% Native American, 1.32% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 0.95% from other races, and 1.15% from two or more races. 2.15% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 8,560 households out of which 17.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 21.9% are married couples living together, 13.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 61.4% are non-families. 31.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.27 and the average family size is 2.93. In the city the population is spread out with 14.3% under the age of 18, 48.7% from 18 to 24, 16.6% from 25 to 44, 11.3% from 45 to 64, and 9.2% who are 65 years of age or older.
