Telmo Zarraonandia Montoya, known as Zarra, was a Spanish football player for Athletic Bilbao from 1940 to 1955. He was born in Asua in Vizcaya on January 30 1921.

Signing after playing one season for Erandio, he became a prolific goalscorer for Athletic and won the Pichichi award for top-scorer six times. He scored more goals (230) than any other player in Spanish football history. He also holds the record for most goals in a season, when he scored 38 times in 1950-51.

Despite this excellent record, he only played for the Spanish national side twenty times. Even so, he still managed to score 20 goals, including four in one historic match when Spain beat Switzerland 6-3 on February 18 1951.

After leaving Athletic in 1955, he played for one year with Indauchu and another with Baracaldo before retiring.
