The group is known for its unusual harmonies, quirky lyrics and collaborations with other musicians such as theIndigo Girls. Their first recording was released in 1979 and they regularly recorded and toured throughout the 1980s and early 1990s. In the mid-1990s the sisters made a foray into children's music with a CD and concert tour geared towards the younger set. The Roches continue to perform live as a three-piece acapella group.
