Main Page | See live article | Alphabetical index The Voyage of the Beagle, published in 1839, is Charles Darwin's memoir of the five-year journey he took on the British ship HMS Beagle, beginning in 1831, when he was 22. The book brought him considerable fame and respect. The Voyage of the Beagle is a detailed scientific field journal covering biology, geology and anthropology that demonstrates Darwin's keen power of obervation, as well as an exciting travel memoir, in a time when Westerners were still discovering much of the rest of the world.
