No ship of the United States Navy has been named USS New Haven (after New Haven, Connecticut), but the name has been proposed at least three times:
- The light cruiser New Haven (CL-76) was converted to the aircraft carrier Belleau Wood (CVL-24) in 1942, before launching.
- Another light cruiser New Haven (CL-109), a Fargo-class vessel, was laid down 28 February 1944 by New York Shipbuilding Corp., Camden, New Jersey, and was to launch 2 December 1945, but her construction was cancelled 12 August 1945.
- A third New Haven (CLK-1) was to have been a hunter-killer cruiser, along with Norfolk (DL-1), but New Haven was deferred 2 March 1949 and then completely cancelled 9 February 1951.
