As of the 2000 census, West Chatham had a total population of 1,446. Geography West Chatham is located at 41°40'50" North, 69°59'15" West (41.680661, -69.987547)1. Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 1,446 people, 706 households, and 429 families residing in West Chatham. The population density is 189.9/km² (491.5/mi²). There are 1,687 housing units at an average density of 221.5/km² (573.5/mi²). The racial makeup of West Chatham is 96.06% White, 1.04% African American, 0.14% Native American, 0.21% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 1.52% from other races, and 1.04% from two or more races. 0.90% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 706 households out of which 18.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.4% are married couples living together, 6.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 39.2% are non-families. 33.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 15.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
