Courtesy names: Changwen (文長) and Tianchi (天池) Sobriquet: Green Vine (青藤 Qīngténg) Born in Fenyi (分宜) Jiangsu, Yan was skilled in poetry and whose works are in The Collection at Ling Mountain House (鈐山堂集 Lingshandang Ji).
