Zoopraxiscope is a contraption that was important in the early technological development of motion pictures. Created by Eadweard Muybridge in 1879 it projected images from rotating glass disks in rapid succession to give the impression of motion. Essentially the first movie projector, the stop-motion images were painted onto the glass.
