Alan Baker was born on August 19 1939 in London, England. In 1970, when he was 31 years old, he was awarded the Fields Medal at the International Congress at Nice. This was awarded for his work on Diophantine equations

He currently teaches Pure Mathematics at Trinity College, Cambridge.

His interests are:

  5. Diophantine geometry,
  6. Diophantine analysis.
