Amadeus Quartet
was a world famous
string quartet
founded in 1947, with members
Norbert Brainin (first violin)
Siegmund Nissel (second violin)
Peter Schidlof (viola)
Martin Lovett (cello)
The quartet played for over 40 years until Peter Schidlof died. The remaining members decided to disband rather than carry on.
