Asda is a chain of supermarkets located solely in the UK. It became part of the American Wal-Mart group in June 1999. The name originally derived from "Associated Dairies". Last count of ASDA came in as 259 stores and 19 "depots". The chain employs 122,000, as of August 2003.

It was formed by a group of farmers in Yorkshire. Stores carry food, grocery, clothing, home, leisure and entertainment goods.
