A term used to denote the rich core of London. Its definition subtly changes to include the wealthy business areas and to exclude the poor areas of what is known as Inner London.

A 1970's definition of Central London would have been:

City of London Westminster Kensington

a 2000 definition would include:

Docklands north Southwark

Inner London and Central London tend to be used as terms that are mutually exclusive. Inner London tends to be used about poverty, crime, and social problems while Central London is nearly always used in terms of business, entertainment, tourism etc.
