Hondo is a western film starring John Wayne. The story tells the adventures of a half-breed cavalry scout in an isolated ranch, and his relation with a frontier woman and her son. The australian John Farrow directed the movie. Geraldine Page was the girl and Ward Bond was Wayne´s sidekick. The script focuses on psychological descriptions and the drama of the Native Americans from New Mexico. The action scenes and the photography are also highpoints of the film.

Hondo (本渡市; -shi) is a city located in Kumamoto, Japan.

As of 2003, the city has an estimated population of 40,838 and the density of 281.99 persons per km². The total area is 144.82 km².

The city was founded on April 1, 1954.
