In French, a hôtel de ville is a town hall.

The Hotel de Ville, located in Paris, France, was the short-lived seat of the Paris Commune of 1871. The French Third Republic was declared in that building.

There is also a Hotel de Ville located in Groningen, the Netherlands and an Acacias Hotel de Ville located in central Paris. These two buildings are actual hotels (i.e. large buildings of rented residence). See also: Netherlands Hotel de Ville, Acacias Hotel de Ville.
