Main Page | See live article | Alphabetical index Sam "Lightnin'" Hopkins born on March 15, 1912 in Centerville, Texas, was a country blues guitar legend, from Houston, Texas. He learned the blues in Buffalo, Texas from Blind Lemon Jefferson and his older cousin, country-blues singer Alger 'Texas' Alexander, with whom he was discovered by Lola Anne Cullum of Los Angeles' Alladdin Records (although Alexander would not make it out to LA.)
