Marjorie "Marge" Bouvier Simpson is a fictional character featured in the animated television series The Simpsons.

Named after mother of Matt Groening, creator of The Simpsons.

Voiced by Julie Kavner, she is the well-meaning and patient wife of Homer. Her most notable physical features is her blue hair, styled into an improbably high beehive. With few exceptions, Marge spends most of her time tending to housework, minding Maggie, being supportive of Lisa, and either disciplining Bart or defending him from Homer's rage. Marge briefly held a position as police officer, in spite of her general dislike of guns. She was also a Real Estate Agent although this failed when she could not sell "The Murder House" to the Flanders. Her sisters include the old maids Patty and Selma, also voiced by Kavner. In spite of her reputation as a stereotypical cartoon mother, Marge has had her share of escapades, many of which have earned her the moral disdain of Springfield's less forgiving residents. A gambling addiction, a predilection for alcoholic beverages, and a memorable cross-country police chase (à la Thelma and Louise ) are just some of the situations that suggest that this enigmatic woman is something more than just another pretty blue-head.

Marge's maiden name is Bouvier, which also happens to be the maiden name of former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy.
