A military academy is an institute of higher learning of things military. The primary education at military academies is in the fields of military tactics and military strategy, although the term is used differently in different countries, and the amount of practical exercise involved varies. The academies usually grant university level degrees and the graduates are commissioned as officers in the country's military. The new officers usually have an obligation to serve for a certain number of years.
