Mongolia is a landlocked country in Asia, surrounded by Russia to the north and the People's Republic of China to the south. The capital of Mongolia is Ulan Bator. The country is part of the Mongolia region.
On October 20, 1945, in a referendum, the Mongolians voted for independence from China (97.8% voted yes; 98.4% turnout)[1].
