A set of colours put on a palette, or in a more general sense, a particular set or quality of colours. In computer graphics, a mechanism where by any numeric value held by pixels may be assigned to a particular colour combination, usually specified in RGB. The primary advantage of this method is that a wide range of colour may be supported with a limited amount of graphics memory.
