Saint Mesrob Mashtots (360 - February 17, 440) was an Armenian monk, theologian and linguist. He was born in Hassik, Taron, Armenia.

Saint Mesrob is best known for having invented the Armenian alphabet. He is also attributed by many as the inventor of the Georgian alphabet though this is disputed and much less certain.
