Södertälje is a municipality in central Sweden, in the county of Stockholm. The municipality covers an area of 522.8 km². Of the total population of 77882, 38909 are male, and 38973 are female. The population density of the community is 149 inhabitants per km². Södertälje is located some 30 kilometers south of Stockholm and many of the inhabitants are able to work in the capital thanks to a well developed public transportation system.

Truck manufacturer
Scania has its main location in Södertälje. It is also one of the main sites for pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca.

Sports

The city has an ice hockey team in the top national series. There is also a successful football club, started my the city's Assyrian community, which now plays in one of the top national leagues.

Miscellaneous

The well known tennis player Björn Borg grew up in Södertälje.
